Pricing and limits
Making and printing codes is free and stays free. What is paid for is the part that runs on a server. These answers cover where that line sits, and what happens to codes you have already printed if a plan ends.
Pricing & Limits
What does ScanMe Online cost?
Making and printing codes is free and stays free: unlimited static QR codes and barcodes with full customization, watermark-free downloads at up to 2000 pixels, and the online scanner. A free account adds 3 dynamic QR codes, 1,500 tracked scans a month and one Smart ID — a digital business card, pet ID or vehicle ID, whichever you need. Pro is $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year and raises that to 50 codes, 50,000 scans and 3 Smart IDs; Business is $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year for 300 codes, 250,000 scans and 10 Smart IDs. You can also buy a single extra dynamic code for $5.99 a year, or an extra Smart ID for $9.99 a year, without taking a plan at all.
Is there a limit on static QR codes or downloads?
No. Create and download as many static QR codes and barcodes as you like, at any supported size, with no daily caps, no watermarks and no expiring downloads. The only bound is your browser history, which keeps your 100 most recent items for convenient re-downloading.
How many dynamic QR codes can I create?
The free plan includes 3 dynamic QR codes per workspace, and Smart IDs share that allowance: a digital business card, pet ID or vehicle ID each holds a code of its own, so one Smart ID and two dynamic codes is a full free plan. Retired codes and retired Smart IDs both stop counting, so you can retire an old one to free a slot. Pro raises the allowance to 50 and Business to 300 — or you can buy a single extra code for $5.99 a year and stay on the plan you are on, which stacks: three free codes plus two bought ones is five.
What happens when I reach my plan limit?
Nothing breaks. Your existing codes keep redirecting exactly as before. The limit only stops you creating another one. To make room, retire a code you no longer need, buy an extra slot, or upgrade. The code allowance is a standing capacity rather than something that resets; the monthly tracked-scan allowance is the one that resets, on the 1st.
Do I need a credit card?
Not to use the free plan, and not to try Pro: the 14-day trial takes no card at all and simply ends. You only enter payment details when you deliberately buy something, and card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers. Free-tier and static codes will never retroactively require payment to keep working.
How does the free Pro trial work?
You get 14 days of Pro without entering a card: 5 dynamic codes, 5,000 tracked scans, a Smart ID with the premium card features on it, and a year of analytics history. It simply ends. There is nothing to cancel and you will not be charged. It is available once per account, and when it ends your workspace returns to Free with everything you made still there.
What happens if I go over my monthly scan allowance?
Your codes keep working. This is the one thing we will not do: a printed QR code never stops resolving because an analytics number went up. What pauses is the detailed recording — we keep counting the scans, so your dashboard can show "14,328 scans this month, 1,500 tracked" — and the per-scan breakdown resumes on the 1st, or immediately if you upgrade.
What happens to my codes if I cancel or downgrade?
Nothing is ever deleted. If you hold more codes than your new plan allows you get 30 days to upgrade, buy extra slots, or choose which to keep — and we tell you which are affected. Only after that do the extras get paused, and pausing is reversible: upgrading brings back exactly the ones we paused, and never the ones you paused yourself.
What if a payment fails?
Nothing is switched off. A card expiring is not a reason to take a customer's printed campaign down, so your plan keeps working while the payment is retried over the following weeks. You will see a banner and an email asking you to update the card, and only if every retry fails does the plan end — with the same 30-day grace period as a cancellation.
How do I cancel, and do you refund?
Cancel any time from Subscriptions; your plan then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for rather than stopping that day, and you can undo it before then. Annual plans are not refunded pro rata as a rule, but if something has gone wrong on our side, contact us. We would rather sort it out than keep the money.
I bought my plan in the iPhone or Mac app. How do I manage it?
A plan or add-on bought in the ScanMe app for iPhone, iPad or Mac is billed by Apple, so it is changed, canceled and refunded in the subscription settings of the Apple Account that paid for it, not on this website. It unlocks the same features here and in the Android app as one bought on the website, and it renews until you cancel it with Apple. App Store prices are set by country and can differ from the prices shown here. To pay on the website instead, turn off its renewal with Apple: you keep what you paid for until the end of that period, and can subscribe here once it has ended.
How do I get more or fewer extra codes or Smart IDs?
Each add-on is one subscription for a number you choose, so more is a change to the one you have rather than a second purchase. On Subscriptions, choose Change beside it and pick the new number. More starts straight away and is charged straight away, for what is left of the year, and you are shown the amount before you confirm. Fewer starts at the next renewal: nothing is charged or refunded today, and you keep what you have until then. An add-on bought in one of the apps is changed in that app store instead.
What if the same plan or add-on is billed in two places?
Each thing you buy has one billing provider at a time, and the others will not sell it to you again. If a purchase slips through anyway — made on two devices at the same moment, say — nothing you paid for is lost: the higher plan applies, add-on quantities are added together, and Subscriptions lists each one with where it is billed. We never cancel or refund either for you. Lower or cancel whichever you do not want where it is billed; until billing is back to one provider, upgrades and additions are paused.
